Platinum Patio and Pavers of Naperville
Platinum Patio & Pavers Customized Patio Designs
At Platinum Patio & Pavers we specialize in customizing the patio design to meet each customer’s specific needs. When you consider the endless options for positioning, sizing, shaping, and selecting materials for a new patio, the design process can begin to feel a bit overwhelming. That is why we provide an experienced design specialist, who works hand in hand with each customer to elevate the design of the new outdoor living space. This design specialist truly understands a variety of factors that can greatly impact the usability of the new space, always ensuring that each customer makes intelligent and cost-effective design decisions throughout the process.
During each estimate, a member of our design team will ask a variety of questions to better understand the short and long-term landscaping goals for space, as well as uncover the design preferences of each customer. While gathering this information is critical, Platinum Patio & Pavers also works to integrate a variety of best-in-class design techniques to maximize the functionality and long-term return on investment for the new outdoor living space. With this information in hand, our design specialist will recommend a shortlist of materials and guide each customer through the selection process, always focusing on maximizing the value that each customer will get out of the new project.
There are many landscaping companies that can build a simple patio, but it truly takes a company that specializes in hardscape design, to ensure the new outdoor living space can maximize your enjoyment for years to come.
Design Decisions To Help Reduce Patio Maintenance
At Platinum Patio & Pavers we specialize in using only top-tier materials from Unilock & Belgard, as the quality and size of materials can have an impact on yearly maintenance requirements for your new outdoor living space. The high-quality pavers that we use will not fade in the sun (like the low-quality pavers that you can get at your local Home Depot) and will look like new every year with a simple annual cleaning. Patios in general are already a low maintenance option for outdoor living, but the new trend of extremely durable, large-format pavers helps reduce this maintenance requirement even further.
We recommend that our customers clean their patios once a year with a mild, plant-safe detergent. This will help remove any dirt or debris that has built up across the surface throughout the year and will help keep your patio looking new for many decades to come. For this process, we recommend using a simple hose with a nozzle attachment, rather than a pressure washer (which if used incorrectly, can actually damage paver stones).
Naperville Patio Estimate Process
The first step of our estimation process is to better understand each customer’s overall vision for the outdoor space of their dreams. Once we have established the direction of the project (a re-design, a resurface or a new design from scratch), we work to gather the necessary design measurements to make sure the space takes full advantage of the home/backyard canvas. Lastly, we will work hand in hand with our customers to review and select the desired design elements (hardscape options, laying patterns, bonus features, etc…) as well as make sure the completed design works within each customer’s budget.
Patio & Paver Specialization
There are many great companies in the construction or landscaping space that build a few hardscape projects each year, but there are only a few companies that specialize in patios and pavers. When everyone in the company builds and sells these projects 365 days a year, a level of experience and skill is attained that truly sets us apart
What makes a Platinum Patio?
We only use top tier materials from industry-leading brands such as Unilock and Belgard. Our outdoor living spaces are designed to be low maintenance, durable, and long-lasting. The installation process is critical to the long term durability, and at Platinum, we pride ourselves on delivering quality over quantity. When installed correctly, a paver patio should last for many decades without requiring any significant maintenance from the homeowner. Today’s modern pavers are scientifically manufactured to produce wear-resistant surfaces that prevent fading over time. The industry has transformed and we are no longer building your grandma’s plain concrete patios.
Retaining Walls
Retaining walls and seating walls will add eye-catching dimension to your yard and can be used to create a more functional outdoor living space.
Outdoor Fire Pits
A fire pit will not only add warmth to your backyard on a chilly night, but it will provide a cozy environment for guests to converse.
Outdoor Kitchens
An outdoor kitchen will create a stately and sophisticated outdoor living space that can be enjoyed by your family through endless summer BBQs.
Fire Pits & Fireplaces
Fire Features Maximize The Usability Of Your New Patio
A fire pit will not only add warmth to your backyard on a chilly night, but it will provide a cozy environment for guests to converse.
Fire features are a great way for any homeowner to maximize the time that their family and friends can spend together outdoors, especially on cold evenings during the Spring and Fall. Platinum Patio & Pavers specializes in building custom fire features, as well as installing all pre-built Unilock and Belgard state-of-the-art fire features. The variety of Firepits, Fireplaces, and Fire Tables available on the market today will truly amaze you.
Firepits and fireplaces can be installed to run off of a variety of fuel sources including real wood, propane, or natural gas. Many customers choose gas fire features for their convenience factor, while others prefer the environment that a natural wood-burning fire pit can provide. There are benefits to each different type of fuel source, and Platinum Patio & Pavers will work to better understand our customer’s needs before making any sort of recommendation on the fuel source to be used in the new patio project.

Outdoor Patio Lighting
Outdoor lighting is one of the easiest ways to add beauty, value and safety/security to your outdoor living space.

Permeable pavers can greatly benefit the environment by helping better manage stormwater and can be used in a variety of our outdoor living projects.
Outdoor Kitchens
Begin Living Outdoors With A New Outdoor Kitchen
An outdoor kitchen will create a stately and sophisticated outdoor living space that can be enjoyed by your family through endless summer BBQs.
Grilling is a way of life for many people, and outdoor kitchens are a great way to add convenience to the entire cooking experience. Outdoor Kitchens range from simple built-in grill areas, to fully functioning kitchens that include cabinetry, a sink, a wastebasket, or any other feature that can be found in a typical designer kitchen. Large grill islands are really trending right now, as they can be built to provide additional seating for enjoying meals straight from the grill!
Outdoor Kitchen Countertop Options
Platinum Patio & Pavers recommends installing a 1 piece countertop to maximize the look and functionality of your new outdoor kitchen. We offer a variety of countertop options including natural stone, polished natural stone, UV stabilized engineered quartz (which is designed to be used outdoors), as well as granite countertops.
A Grill Enclosure Can Be A Budget-Friendly Alternative To A Full Outdoor Kitchen
Depending on your budget, another great option to consider would be installing a simple grill enclosure around a free-standing grill. This option can allow a homeowner to use their existing grill and provides increased flexibility to change out your grill in the future. Grill enclosures help provide additional countertop space for cooking, while better defining a designated grilling space on your new patio.
Paver sidewalks and entryways will increase your home’s curb appeal while also adding convenience and functionality to your yard.
Pavers are the ideal choice for building entrances and walkways as they look much more natural than concrete, and can better integrate into the landscape around your yard. Pavers can be used to help dress up a garden or add a formal appeal to your home.
Platinum Patio & Pavers always recommends building entrances and walkways at least 4 feet wide, so that two people can walk comfortably side by side down the pathway. This is extremely important for paths that get a large amount of foot traffic or ones that lead to the main entrance of a home. Walkways that are 4 feet wide (or greater) will establish an inviting presence that will help draw friends and neighbors towards your home.

Outdoor Lighting
Enhance Your Yard With Landscape Lighting
Outdoor lighting is one of the easiest ways to add beauty, value, and safety/security to your outdoor living space.
Landscape lighting is an essential element that should be considered when designing any new outdoor living space. Landscape lights allow you to safely enjoy the outdoors long after the sun goes down, while also helping to increase the overall security of your home. Landscape lights come in a variety of options including pathway lights, step lights, wall lights, up lights, and downlights. At Platinum Patio & Pavers we only use high-quality fixtures that are energy efficient and run off a low voltage transformer. Adding lights to steps, seating walls, pathways, or around your patio will make your new outdoor living space the envy of the neighborhood!

Walls & Pillars
Walls Can Easily Add Dimension To Any Outdoor Living Space
Seating walls and retaining walls will add an eye-catching dimension to your yard and can be used to create a more functional outdoor living space.
Today’s modern pavers are used for a variety of outdoor living features including aesthetically pleasing retaining and seating walls. These design features add a level of comfort to any outdoor living space, while often serving a dual purpose of extending the usable space of one’s patio or backyard. Paver walls are built to withstand the elements with little to no maintenance and provide a more permanent solution for accommodating large groups during summer BBQs. Seating and retaining wall designs can also be further enhanced to include pillars and wall lights, often becoming the centerpiece design element of any new outdoor living space.
You will often find seat walls around many outdoor firepit areas, as they help reflect heat and provide a cozy environment for guests. Adding pillows or cushions can also help soften up and provide extra comfort to any paver seating wall.

Paver Driveways
Paver Driveways Can Help Maximize Your Home’s ROI
A paver driveway will add class to your home and make an impression on guests that will last a lifetime.
Although poured or stamped concrete driveways are often found to have lower upfront costs, it has actually been proven that paver driveways provide a greater return on investment over the lifespan of a project. No matter how a concrete driveway is installed in the midwest, it is doomed to crack and fail due to the extreme freeze/thaw cycle that we experience each winter. Once a concrete slab has cracked, there aren’t any remedies to seamlessly repair it without completely removing the entire slab (which can get ridiculously expensive). On the other hand, paver driveways are designed to allow the overall structure to flex during each freeze/thaw cycle, preventing any cracks from forming within or across the materials. This fundamental difference is why paver driveways last much longer than concrete driveways and provide a better return on investment in the long run. Paver driveways look far superior to concrete driveways, add tremendous resale value to a home, and can really stand up to the test of time in our cold midwestern climate!

Entrances & Walkways
Add Seamless Functionality To Your Landscaping
Paver sidewalks and entryways will increase your home’s curb appeal while also adding convenience and functionality to your yard.
Pavers are the ideal choice for building entrances and walkways as they look much more natural than concrete, and can better integrate into the landscape around your yard. Pavers can be used to help dress up a garden or add a formal appeal to your home.

Pergolas
Add Shade and Sophistication To Your Patio With A New Pergola
Pergolas serve as an entertainer’s dream, by adding both form and function to your deck or patio. Pergolas help create an outdoor oasis and are the perfect enhancement to consider when designing any outdoor living space. Plat
A Pergola is also a great addition to any deck and patio contamination. We specialize in Trex and low-maintenance aluminum pergolas.

Natural Stone
Elegant Designs Using Natural Stone
Natural stone offers a level of premium sophistication and quality that cannot easily be matched by other paver products on market. Natural stone comes in a variety of colors and options including sandstone, limestone, and granite, and should be considered when choosing pavers, wall coping, or countertops for your new project. Natural stone products can also be used as an accessory to enhance specific features of your new outdoor living space.

Stairs & Stoops
Stairs Are An Essential Design Feature For Many Patio Projects
Whether designing stairs for a new patio or adding detail to a landing stoop, you can easily enhance your landscaping game with a few simple steps!
Pavers are an extremely durable, versatile, and low maintenance option for building stairs or stoops. When designing stairs, it is always best to leverage large format paver designs, as they help maximize the overall safety of the project. Our design specialist will work to seamlessly integrate any new stair design into the landscape, while always focusing on maximizing the functionality of the new outdoor living space.
Permeable Pavers
Building a Green Outdoor Living Space
Permeable pavers can greatly benefit the environment by helping better manage stormwater and can be used in a variety of our outdoor living projects.
Permeable pavers are a great option to consider when building any new paver driveway, patio or walkway. Permeable pavers are environmentally friendly in that they allow rainwater to be easily absorbed back into the ground, reducing the burden on storm drains. In certain municipalities where they limit the amount of non-permeable square footage that one can have in a yard, permeable pavers can also be used to expand the allowable square footage for your new paver driveway, patio, or walkway.

Extending Stone Patio Lifespan
We Go Above And Beyond With Our Approach To Water Maintenance To Maximize the Lifespan Of Your Project
Without proper installation, mother nature can wreak havoc on any paver or patio project (especially in the Midwest). The extreme temperature swings along with the ground freeze/thaw cycle can shift pavers out of place, and lead to cracks within joints after a number of years. In order to limit this impact and to maximize the lifespan of a project, builders must go above and beyond with their base installations to ensure proper compaction and drainage of the base material. The base of a paver or patio project is like the foundation of a house and is the most important part to get right in order to ensure the longevity of the project. The majority of contractors have the ability to install a great looking top layer of pavers, but they often cut corners with their base installations and basic approaches to water maintenance.
Historically, hardscape installers have built their bases out of ‘dirty’ gravel material with an inch of sand bedding over the top. Extensive research over the past 10 years has experts now convinced that this traditional method for building a paver base retains too much water and drastically affects the longevity of projects, especially in cold climates. Unilock now recommends that the vast majority of all paver projects should use an open-graded base design with clear ¾ inch gravel. This base design was traditionally reserved for ‘permeable’ paver installations but has been proven to add tremendous benefits to ‘non-permeable’ installations as well. Unfortunately, many contractors and landscapers are not willing to adapt to these new methods and still building their bases with outdated materials.
From day one, Platinum Patio & Pavers has made it a priority to maximize the longevity of any project we work on by doing the little things right. Our extreme focus on water maintenance practices, open-graded base designs, and a tremendous focus on proper base compaction ensure that our customers can enjoy their new outdoor living spaces for many decades into the future. We take pride in putting extra effort into the base, even though the majority of customers will not appreciate the impact that this effort will have until many years down the road.
Open-Grade Patio Base
Additional Advantages Of Using An Open-Grade Base
Platinum Patio & Pavers is among a small group of top tier patio and paver installers that leverage permeable base systems (that consist of a ¾ inch clear gravel layer and a coarse stone bedding layer), as opposed to item #4 and sand. The materials used in our bases yield better drainage performance, while still providing sufficient load-bearing capacity. Research has shown that open-grade based designs have the following advantages:
- The course stone bedding layer is ideal for raised steps and patios because it eliminates sand washout
- The clear stone makes it hard for roots to thrive and helps reduce weed growth
- These base materials can be installed during inclement weather, which helps keep projects on schedule
- They are free-draining, which eliminates water sitting just below the surface of the paver, which further prevents freezing and shifting beneath the pavers
Unilock experts and industry professionals all have spent the past decade researching the best methods for base installation and have all concluded that employing an open-graded base design provides customers with the most successful projects over time.
Unilock Pavers
We Only Use Top Quality Materials
Platinum Patio & Pavers specializes in Unilock products which are specifically designed to endure the harsh winters of the upper Midwest. Unilock produces extremely hard pavers (2 to 4 times the strength of concrete) that have been proven to retain their color over time, unlike less expensive paving options, which tend to fade at a relatively fast rate. Our teams have also installed many projects using Belgard and Techno-Bloc pavers, but the seemingly endless Unilock product line can accommodate any of your outdoor living needs including patios, seat walls, fire pits, steps, fireplaces and outdoor kitchens. If you live in the upper Midwest, we strongly recommend considering Unilock pavers to ensure the longevity of your outdoor living space.

What makes a great patio?
Patios invite us to spend more time outdoors and allow us to reconnect with our friends and family. Outdoor living spaces are an excellent option for entertaining and dining outdoors. Invite friends over to enjoy a summer barbeque, sit by the fire pit, and roast some marshmallows.

Patio Innovation
We Prioritize Innovation At Every Step Of The Way, Including The Installation Of A Perma Edge Paver Restraint
For decades contractors and landscapers have worked tirelessly to cut and place their pavers to perfection, only to use a standard plastic edge landscaping restraint which was destined to fail. Many in the industry recognize that plastic edging tends to be the weakest link in the chain, but continue to use this method due to their inability to adapt to change. At Platinum Patio & Pavers, we quickly adapt to innovation and have switched to using a new technology of Perma Edge restraints to maximize the longevity of our projects.

Perma Edge Example- Learn more about Perma Edge HERE
Perma Edge
Perma Edge was invented by landscapers who were sick and tired of paver edge separation and failure. Perma Edge is a mortar-like product that is 700% more flexible than concrete and 40% more permeable. Perma Edge will float and flex with the sub-base, making it the ideal edging to withstand the midwestern freeze/thaw cycle. Bottom line, no more failed edges.
Stone paver patios that last
We Future Proof Your Long Term Landscaping Projects
Some of our customers have long term goals of fully transforming their outdoor living spaces into a resort-like setting, but they may not have the necessary budget to obtain all of their dream features in a single phase of work. At Platinum Patio & Pavers, we work within a customers budget to plan out a phased approach towards achieving these long term goals. It is nearly impossible to add on a fire pit or outdoor kitchen without first properly planning for these features in the initial design, and we even sometimes install the necessary trenched gas or electrical lines while building the patio base to ensure these features can be easily added at a later date. Through our transparent pricing and forward thinking phased approach, we can work hand in hand with our customers to ensure their long term landscaping goals can be achieved. At the end of the day, our focus is to build long term relationships with our customers so that they only look to us for their future outdoor living needs.

Patio and Paver Building Process
Our team works hard to understand the specific goals of our customers before designing a customized outdoor living space to meet the needs of each project. Outdoor living spaces are a highly customizable yard feature, with materials available in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. We specialize in designing and installing patios, entrances, and walkways, outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, retaining walls, driveways, outdoor lighting, pergolas, and more.

Protecting your patio against Naperville winters!
- The easiest way to protect your patio is to make sure the surface is clean. The longer harmful substances sit on a patio’s surface, the more damage could occur. When removing snow from the surface, please avoid using a metal shovel to reduce the chance of scraping the stones.
Can I put salt on my pavers to melt the ice?
- Winters can get pretty bad in Naperville and salt is often used to melt snow or ice. It is NOT recommended to use salt on a paver patio because the corrosive nature of the salt can cause damage to the stones. In addition, the salt can seep into the pavers and cause discoloration and other problems.
How to stop weeds from growing between my pavers?
-
Just as Naperville winters can rough, Spring in Naperville brings its own set of issues like weeds and plant vegetation. Proper installation of stones, a constant slope to drain moisture from the surface, and a well-compacted layer of finishing sand will help prevent future weed growth. We do recommend pulling or killing any weeds if they arise.
